Three other Box-Toppers leaders were chosen for the “All-MLB” Second Team.
The All-MLB team was selected with half the vote coming from fans and half coming from an expert panel. Unlike the selections for baseball’s All-Star Game, players on not selected based on their affiliation with American League or National League. Rather, all players are chosen from all Major League Baseball regardless of league as “First Team” or “Second Team” players.
Here are the seven Box-Toppers points leaders who were also selected for the All-MLB First Team:
Outfield—Aaron Judge, Yankees
Outfield—Juan Soto, Yankees
Designated hitter—Shohei Ohtani, Dodgers
Starting pitcher—Zack Wheeler, Phillies
Starting pitcher—Tarik Skubal, Tigers
Starting pitcher—Chris Sale, Braves
Relief pitcher—Ryan Helsley, Cardinals
Here are the three Box-Toppers points leaders who were selected for the All-MLB Second Team:
Shortstop—Francisco Lindor, Mets
Starting pitcher—Dylan Cease, Padres
Starting pitcher—Shota Imanaga, Cubs
Here is a Box-Toppers position-by-position look at the All-MLB teams, how players chosen for the teams fared in Box-Toppers points and who Box-Toppers would have chosen for those spots based on their season Box-Toppers point total.
First base
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. of the Blue Jays was chosen as the First Team selection. His 3.5 Box-Toppers points ranked 173rd among all players, 21st among AL batters and seventh among all first basemen.
Second Team selection is Bryce Harper of the Phillies who had 8.7 Box-Toppers points, 79th among all players, sixth among NL batters and second among all first basemen.
Box-Toppers chose Josh Naylor of the Guardians, who led at the position with 9.0 Box-Toppers points, which was 72nd overall and fourth among AL batters.
Second base
Ketel Marte of the Diamondbacks was chosen as First Team selection. His 7.0 Box-Toppers points ranked 106th among all players and second among all second basemen.
Second Team selection is Jose Altuve of the Astros, who had 4.0 Box-Toppers points, 229th among all players, ninth among all second basemen.
Box-Toppers selection, Brandon Lowe of the Rays, led at the position with 7.0 Box-Toppers points, 105th among all players and 10th among AL batters. Lowe, however, was not among the seven second basemen on the All-MLB team ballot. Marte was Box-Toppers’ highest-ranking second baseman on the All-MLB Team ballot, not far behind Lowe. Both earned 7.0 points in 2024 but Lowe ranked ahead of Marte based on a narrow edge in 2023 points—5.5 vs. 4.5.
Shortstop
Bobby Witt Jr. of the Royals, chosen as First Team selection, earned 8.9 Box-Toppers points in 2024, 76th among all players, fifth among AL batters and third among all shortstops.
Second Team selection is Francisco Lindor of the Mets, whose 10.9 Box-Toppers points ranked 45th among all players, second among NL batters and first among all shortstops. He was Box-Toppers’ selection for the All-MLB Team at shortstop.
Third base
Jose Ramirez of the Guardians was chosen as First Team selection. His 9.9 Box-Toppers points ranked 60th among all players, third among AL batters and second among all third basemen.

Second Team selection is Salvador Perez of the Royals, whose 3.5 Box-Toppers points is 227th among all players and 45th among AL batters. However, Perez did not rank among AL catchers because he did not win any of his Player of the Game honors at that position during the season. (He won two playing first base and one as a designated hitter.) Perez, however, played 91 of his 158 games as a catcher in 2024.
Box-Toppers selection, Shea Langeliers of the Athletics, led at the position with 7.5 Box-Toppers points, 101st among all players and ninth among AL batters.
Outfield
Aaron Judge of the Yankees, Juan Soto of the Yankees and Mookie Betts of the Dodgers are First Team selections.
Of the three, Judge and Soto are also Box-Toppers’ All-MLB team selections. Judge led all outfielders (13.0 Box-Toppers points, 21st overall and first among AL batters) and Soto ranked second among all outfielders (11.0 Box-Toppers points, 43rd overall and second among AL batters).

Designated hitter
Shohei Ohtani of the Dodgers, the First Team selection, is also Box-Toppers All-MLB Team selection. He led all designated hitters with 11.0 Box-Toppers points, which was 41st among all players and first among NL batters.
Second Team selection is Yordan Alvarez of the Astros. Alvarez earned 7.5 Box-Toppers points in 2024, 99th among all players, eighth among AL batters and fifth among all designated hitters.

Relief pitchers
Ryan Helsley of the Cardinals and Emmanuel Clase of the Guardians are MLB All-Star First Team selections.

About Box-Toppers
Box-Toppers tracks who most helps their team win the most games. Using standard box score statistics, Box-Toppers uses a simple formula to determine a Player of the Game for each Major League Baseball game played. That player is the person who contributed most to his team’s win. In regular season games, players earn 1.0 Box-Toppers point for being named Player of the Game and can earn bonus points for being Player of the Day or top player or batter in their league for the day.
