Phillies pitcher Ranger Suarez is Tuesday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day, rising to fourth in season player rankings.
Also Tuesday, two other players rise in Box-Toppers season player rankings top 10 list after earning Player of the Game honors: Mariners pitcher Logan Gilbert rises to second place and Cardinals closing pitcher Ryan Helsley rises to third place.
Player of the Day
Suarez pitched a complete-game, seven-hit shutout, striking out eight and walking one, in the 5-0 win over the Rockies.
Suarez earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 4.0 for the season, rising to fourth place in season player rankings, third among National League pitchers, behind overall leader Freddy Peralta of the Brewers and Ryan Helsley of the Cardinals, who also earned Player of the Game honors Tuesday.
While Peralta, Gilbert, Helsley and Suarez all have 4.0 Box-Toppers points on the season, Peralta ranks highest among them because he has the most 2023 Box-Toppers points (17.7), followed by Gilbert (13.4), Helsley (4.0) and Suarez (3.7).
American League Player of the Day
Blue Jays pitcher Yusei Kikuchi struck out nine over six innings, allowing one run, four hits and one walk, in the 5-4 win over the Yankees.
Kikuchi earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being AL Player of the Day, giving him 2.7 for the season, ninth among AL pitchers.
National League Batter of the Day
Mookie Betts of the Dodgers hit two doubles and went 5-for-5, scoring twice and driving in two runs, in the 6-2 win over the Nationals.
Betts has now earned Box-Toppers points in 11 straight seasons with his first Player of the Game honor of 2024. He earned his first points in 2014 with the Red Sox and now has 64.0 career Box-Toppers points, eighth among active NL batters. His best season was 2022 with the Dodgers, when he had 11.7 Box-Toppers points, second among NL batters. He earned 8.5 points in 2023 with the Dodgers, eighth among NL batters.
American League Batter of the Day
Gunnar Henderson of the Orioles homered and went 3-for-5, scoring once and driving in three runs, in the 11-3 win over the Twins.

Mariners pitcher Logan Gilbert (6.2IP 3H R BB 6K W in the 3-1 win over the Reds) earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 4.0 for the season, rising from fifth to second place, behind overall leader, Brewers pitcher Freddy Peralta (4.0). Gilbert now ranks first among AL pitchers, passing previous leader Corbin Burnes of the Orioles (3.7 points), who falls to second. While Gilbert and Peralta both have 4.0 points on the season, Peralta ranks ahead because he has the most 2023 points—17.7 vs. 13.4.
Cardinals closing pitcher Ryan Helsley (1IP 0H 0R 0BB K Sv in the 3-2 win over the Athletics) earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 4.0 for the season, third overall, second among NL pitchers (behind Peralta) and first among NL closing pitchers, ahead of Evan Phillips of the Dodgers (3.0). This is Helsley’s fourth Box-Toppers Player of the Game honor of 2024. He also did it April 2, April 4 and April 12.
