Meanwhile, the New York Yankees rise to lead American League teams and the Houston Astros are the week’s hottest team.
Phillies lead
Phillies players have accumulated 41.5 Box-Toppers points so far this season, picking up 5.0 points in the past week, maintaining their overall lead ahead of the second-place Yankees (34.7 points) and leading National League teams ahead of the Los Angeles Dodgers (third place overall with 33.2 points).
The Phillies have baseball’s best winning percentage (.689) and are led by pitcher Ranger Suarez (7.7 points, second overall and second among NL pitchers). Phillies top batter is Bryson Stott (4.5 points, first among NL batters). Twelve different Phillies players have earned Box-Toppers points so far in 2024.
Yankees lead AL teams
The New York Yankees rise to first place among AL teams in Box-Toppers rankings with 34.7 points, picking up 6.5 in the past week, moving from fifth to second place overall. They pass last week’s top AL team, the Baltimore Orioles, who fall from third to fourth overall with 32.9 points, picking up 3.0 points in the past week.
The Yankees have the AL’s best winning percentage (.667), second-best in baseball, behind the Phillies (.689).
The Yankees are led by pitcher Luis Gil (5.7 points, 15th overall and sixth among AL pitchers). Yankees top batter is Juan Soto (4.5 points, first among AL batters). Fourteen different Yankees players have earned Box-Toppers points so far in 2024.
Hottest team: Astros
The Houston Astros are the week’s hottest team, picking up 7.5 points in the past week, most of any team, rising from 26th to 21st in team rankings with 23.5 points. Their five-spot climb was also the biggest jump among all teams.
The Astros won six of their seven games this week.
Biggest fall: Rangers
The Texas Rangers had the biggest decline in rankings, falling five spots from 10th to 15th with 26.0 points, picking up 1.0 point in the past week.
Last place: Marlins
The Miami Marlins rank 30th and last place in Box-Toppers team rankings for the second straight week with 14.5 Box-Toppers points, picking up 3.5 points in the past week.
