Greinke struck out seven over six scoreless innings, allowing two hits and no walks, in the 7-2 win over the Pirates.

Greinke earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 182.2 career points, eighth-most among all players since 1995 when Box-Toppers tracking began. He trails seventh-ranked player Alex Rodriguez (187.0).

Greinke now has 6.0 Box-Toppers points for the season, 13th among National League pitchers.

American League Player of the Day—Indians pitcher Trevor Bauer struck out 11 over 6 1/3 innings, allowing one run, five hits and two walks, in the 4-1 win over the Tigers.

He ranks second among NL batters in season Box-Toppers points, behind Eugenio Suarez of the Reds (7.5). (While both Suarez and Crawford have 7.5 points, Suarez ranks ahead because he has more 2017 points—3.5 vs. 1.7.

American League Batter of the Day—Mark Trumbo of the Orioles hit a grand slam, going 1-for-3, scoring once and driving in four runs, in the 7-5 win over the Braves.

Notable—Anthony DeSclafani of the Reds becomes the second pitcher this season to earn Player of the Game honors for batting.

DeSclafani (GS 1-3 R 4BI in the 11-2 win over the Cubs) had a Box-Toppers game score of +3.0 for batting, best among Reds players. His game score for pitching was -1.9 (6.1IP 3H 2R 4BB 3K W).

He is the second pitcher to earn Player of the Game honors for batting in 2018. Brent Suter of the Brewers did it June 15. Pitchers earned Player of the Game honors for batting seven times in 2017.

Debut—Two players made their Box-Toppers debut Saturday with their first career Player of the Game honors:

Dodgers pitcher Caleb Ferguson (4IP 3H 0R BB 6K W in the 8-3 win over the Mets) made his Major League debut June 6 and was playing in his fourth career game. He is the 4,006th player to debut in Box-Toppers since record keeping began in 1995.

Ferguson came on in relief for Clayton Kershaw, who was returning from more than three weeks on the disabled list. Kershaw, the active leader in career Box-Toppers points (209.8), threw 55 pitches and had a Box-Toppers game score of -3.0 (3IP 5H 3R BB 4K ND). Kershaw has 3.0 Box-Toppers points for the season, 42nd among NL pitchers.

Also making his debut Saturday: Rays pitcher Wilmer Font (5.2IP 3H 0R BB 4K W in the 4-0 win over the Yankees) made his Major League debut Sept. 18, 2012, and was playing in his 26th career game. He is the 4,007th player to debut in Box-Toppers since record keeping began in 1995.

Scoring—Greinke earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day and Bauer earns 1.7 points for being AL Player of the Day. Crawford and Trumbo each earn 1.5 points for being their league’s Batter of the Day. All of Saturday’s other Players of the Game (listed in the chart below) earn 1.0 Box-Toppers point.
