Also Tuesday, two players in the top 10 of Box-Toppers season player rankings earned Player of the Game honors—Twins pitcher Jose Berrios rose to third place and Astros pitcher Gerrit Cole maintained his eighth-place ranking.
Player of the Day—Tanaka pitched a complete game shutout, striking out nine and allowing three hits and one walk, in the 4-0 win over the Rays.
Tanaka earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 6.7 for the season, 20th among American League pitchers.
National League Player of the Day—Cardinals pitcher Austin Gomber struck out six over 6 1/3 innings, allowing two runs, two hits and two walks, in the 4-2, 11-inning win over the Reds. Gomber picked up a no-decision and did not earn the win because the score was tied, 2-2, when he exited. Gomber allowed no hits through 6 1/3 innings in his first Major League start. He made his Box-Toppers debut June 2 as a middle reliever.
National League Batter of the Day—J.T. Realmuto of the Marlins homered and went 1-for-3, scoring twice and driving in four runs, in the 9-3 win over the Braves.
American League Batter of the Day—Jonathan Schoop of the Orioles homered and went 2-for-4, scoring once and driving in three runs, in the 7-6 win over the Red Sox.
