Meanwhile, the Oakland Athletics rise to lead American League teams and the Cleveland Indians are the hottest team since the last rankings report Sept. 17.
Dodgers players have accumulated 52.8 Box-Toppers points through the regular season’s final games of Sept. 27, picking up 8.5 points since Sept. 17. They also have baseball’s best winning percentage (.717).
The Dodgers lead the second-place team, the San Diego Padres with 48.0 Box-Toppers points. The Padres maintain their second-place rank from last week, picking up 5.5 points since Sept. 17.
The Dodgers are led by pitcher Clayton Kershaw with 7.7 Box-Toppers points, who ranks ninth overall and fifth among NL pitchers. Corey Seager leads Dodgers batters with 3.5 Box-Toppers points, 13th among NL batters. Twenty-two different Dodgers players earned Box-Toppers points in 2020.
The Athletics rise past the Chicago White Sox to lead AL teams. The Athletics have 45.2 Box-Toppers points in 2020, rising to fourth place among all teams—they ranked fifth on Sept. 17. They pass the White Sox, who led AL teams on Sept. 17 in third place overall. The White Sox fall to eighth place overall, fourth among AL teams, with 43.7 points, picking up 2.0 points since Sept. 17. The White Sox had led AL teams for three consecutive weeks.
The Athletics have a winning percentage of .600, tied for second-best in the AL. The Tampa Bay Rays lead AL teams in winning percentage (.667) and rank ninth in Box-Toppers team rankings with 43.4 points, fifth among AL teams, picking up 7.0 points since Sept. 17. The Minnesota Twins also have a winning percentage of .600. They rank seventh in Box-Toppers team rankings with 43.8 points, picking up 6.5 points since Sept. 17.
The Athletics are led by pitcher Chris Bassitt with 6.4 Box-Toppers points, eighth among AL pitchers. Top batter is Stephen Piscotty with 2.7 Box-Toppers points, 20th among AL batters. Eighteen different Athletics players earned Box-Toppers points in 2020.
The Cleveland Indians are the hottest team since the last Box-Toppers team rankings report on Sept. 17, picking up 10.9 Box-Toppers points in that span, rising six spots from 11th to fifth place with 45.0 Box-Toppers points.
The New York Yankees fall from the top 10, moving from 10th to 12th place with 39.9 Box-Toppers points, picking up 5.5 points since Sept. 17.
The Washington Nationals had the biggest jump in team rankings, rising nine spots from 28th to 18th with 30.2 Box-Toppers points, picking up 10.2 since Sept. 17, most among NL teams.
The Detroit Tigers had the biggest decline, falling seven spots from 21st to 28th with 25.7 Box-Toppers points, picking up 2.0 points since Sept. 17.
The Pittsburgh Pirates maintain 30th and last place in Box-Toppers team rankings for the sixth week with 20.0 Box-Toppers points, earning 4.0 points since Sept. 17.
