Meanwhile, the Chicago White Sox continue to lead American League teams and the Philadelphia Phillies are the hottest team since July 1.
Box-Toppers weekly team rankings reports are normally posted each Friday, but this week’s report was delayed until after the completion of games Sunday leading into this week’s All-Star break.
Brewers players have accumulated 67.2 Box-Toppers points this season, picking up 3.7 points since July 1. The Brewers took the lead in Box-Toppers’ previous team rankings report July 1. This is the fifth straight team rankings report that the Brewers have led NL teams.
The Brewers have baseball’s seventh-best winning percentage (.576), behind the San Francisco Giants (.640), Los Angeles Dodgers (.615), Chicago White Sox (.607), Boston Red Sox (.604), Houston Astros (.604) and Tampa Bay Rays (.589). The Giants are eighth in Box-Toppers team rankings (62.2 Box-Toppers points), the Dodgers are second (66.8), the White Sox are third (66.5), the Red Sox are fourth (65.1), the Astros are seventh (63.5) and the Rays are fifth (64.9).
The Brewers are led by pitcher Brandon Woodruff with 13.4 Box-Toppers points, fourth among all players and third among National League pitchers. Brewers’ top batter is Avisail Garcia with 4.2 Box-Toppers points, 11th among NL batters. There are 22 Brewers players who have earned Player of the Game honors in the team’s 53 wins this season.
The White Sox continue their lead among AL teams for the sixth straight team rankings report. The White Sox have the best winning percentage among AL teams (.607).
The White Sox are led by pitcher Lance Lynn with 8.7 Box-Toppers points, fifth among AL pitchers. White Sox’ top batter is Jose Abreu with 5.5 Box-Toppers points, fifth among AL batters. There are 22 White Sox players who have earned Player of the Game honors in the team’s 54 wins this season.
The Philadelphia Phillies are the hottest team since the last team rankings report July 1, picking up 9.2 Box-Toppers points since then, most of any team. The Phillies also made the biggest rise up team rankings since July 1, climbing five spots from 19th to 14th with 55.7 accumulated Box-Toppers points this season.
The Cleveland Indians had the biggest drop in rankings among all teams since July 1, falling six spots from 11th to 17th with 55.2 Box-Toppers points, even though they picked up 5.0 points since July 1.
The Baltimore Orioles fall from 28th place on July 1 to 30th and last place as of July 11 with 31.7 Box-Toppers points, picking up 1.0 point since July 1. The lowest-ranking teams as of July 1 were the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Arizona Diamondbacks, tied for 29th. As of July 11, the Pirates rose to 28th place with 35.9 points, picking up 6.9 points since July 1 and the Diamondbacks rank 29th with 32.0 points, picking up 3.0 points since July 1.
There will be no team rankings report posted this Friday, July 16, due to the All-Star break. Weekly team rankings reports are slated to resume Friday, July 23.
