Nick Castellanos of the Phillies is Box-Toppers Player of the Game in Thursday’s National League Division Series win over the Braves.
NL Division Series Game 4: Phillies 3, Braves 1
Castellanos hit two solo home runs and went 3-for-3, scoring twice and driving in two runs.
The Philadelphia Phillies win the best-of-five game series 3-1, eliminating the Atlanta Braves.
Castellanos earned 7.0 Box-Toppers points in 2023, 110th among all players and 15th among NL pitchers.
Castellanos had a Box-Toppers game score Thursday of +4.0, best among all Phillies players. Phillies starting pitcher Ranger Suarez had a +2.0 Box-Toppers game score (5IP 3H R 0BB 2K W). Braves starting pitcher Spencer Strider had a -3.8 Box-Toppers game score (5.2IP 7H 3R 3BB 7K L).
The loss eliminates the Braves, who ranked second in Box-Toppers team rankings and first among NL teams with its players accumulating 125.4 Box-Toppers points. The Phillies ranked ninth overall and fourth among NL teams with 112.2 points. They now advance to the NL Championship Series against the Arizona Diamondbacks, Box-Toppers’ lowest-ranking postseason team, in 14th place overall, with 102.1 Box-Toppers points.
The Braves led NL teams in Box-Toppers team rankings for much of the second half of the season, including in Box-Toppers’ final nine weekly team rankings reports. Braves’ Thursday starter, Spencer Strider is Box-Toppers’ 2023 Player of the Year, leading all players with 21.1 Box-Toppers points. But he lost both of his postseason starts, including the Game 1 loss to the Phillies Saturday. Ronald Acuna Jr. of the Braves led NL batters in Box-Toppers points during much of the latter half of the season and finished second overall in the category with 10.7 points, behind Pete Alonso of the Mets (12.0). Acuna is a favorite for NL Most Valuable Player.

Looking ahead to both League Championship Series
With all four league division series now complete, the playoffs take a two-day break before the start of the American League Championship Series Sunday with the Texas Rangers at the Houston Astros. The National League Championship Series begins Monday with the Arizona Diamondbacks at the Philadelphia Phillies. Box-Toppers will post previews for both the series in the coming days.
