Cubs pitcher Justin Steele is Friday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day.

Also Friday, Brenton Doyle of the Rockies extended his lead among National League batters in 2024 Box-Toppers points after earning Player of the Game honors.

Player of the Day

Steele pitched a complete game, striking out seven and allowing one run, two hits and two walks, in the 5-1 win over the Angels.

Steele earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 3.0 for the season, 151st among all players and 52nd among NL pitchers.

American League Player of the Day

Mariners pitcher Luis Castillo struck out eight over 6 2/3 innings, allowing one run, two hits and two walks, in the 2-1 win over the Blue Jays.

Castillo earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being AL Player of the Day, giving him 8.7 for the season, 15th among all players and eighth among AL pitchers.

American League Player of the Day is Mariners pitcher Luis Castillo.

National League Batter of the Day

Bryan Reynolds of the Pirates hit two home runs, including a grand slam, in the 14-2 win over the Mets. Reynolds went 4-for-5, scoring three times and driving in six runs.

National League Batter of the Day is Bryan Reynolds of the Pirates.

American League Batter of the Day

Jeremy Pena of the Astros hit a sacrifice fly and went 3-for-5, scoring three times and driving in three runs, in the 13-12 win over the Twins.

This is the second straight day Pena won Box-Toppers Player of the Game honors. He was also Player of the Game Thursday in the 5-3 win over the Blue Jays (HR 2-4 2R BI).

He earns 1.5 Box-Toppers points Friday and 1.0 on Thursday, giving him 3.5 for the season, 17th among AL batters.

American League Batter of the Day is Jeremy Pena of the Astros.

Brenton Doyle of the Rockies extended his lead among National League batters in 2024 Box-Toppers points after earning Player of the Game honors Friday.

Doyle (2B 3-4 0R 2BI in the 4-2 win over the Royals) earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 7.7 for the season, 31st among all players. He leads NL batters ahead of second-place Bryce Harper of the Phillies (6.7 points).
