Miller earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 15.7 for the season, eighth among all players and third among American League pitchers, behind Tarik Skubal of the Tigers (19.1) and Luis Gil of the Yankees (17.4).

Miller has the same 15.7 Box-Toppers point total as seventh place player, Giants pitcher Blake Snell, but ranks behind him because he has fewer 2023 points—13.1 vs. 14.7.

National League Player of the Day

Matt Chapman of the Giants hit an inside-the-park home run, tripled and went 2-for-4, scoring once and driving in three runs, in the 6-3 win over the Diamondbacks.

Chapman earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being NL Player of the Day, giving him 10.2 for the season, 49th among all players and second among NL batters, behind Willy Adames of the Brewers (10.5).

Chapman becomes the 55th player to reach 10 Box-Toppers points in 2024 and the fourth batter, joining Aaron Judge of the Yankees (13.0), Juan Soto of the Yankees (11.0) and Adames (10.5).

Four batters with 10 Box-Toppers points in 2024 matches the record-low number of batters to reach 10 points in a season since Box-Toppers tracking began in 1995. It was previously done in 2022, when 54 total players had 10 points, including four batters. There are currently seven batters with between 8.5 and 9.7 points this season who could reach 10 points by earning one more Player of the Game or league Batter of the Day honor in the final six days of the season. The most batters to reach 10 Box-Toppers points in a season is 28 in 1997, 1999 and 2000.

This is Chapman’s first season to reach 10 Box-Toppers points. His previous high was 9.0 points in 2019 with the Athletics, seventh among AL batters. In 2023, he earned 3.5 points with the Blue Jays.

National League Player of the Day is Matt Chapman of the Giants.

AL & NL Batters of the Day

There is no separate American League Batter of the Day for Monday because no AL batter earned Player of the Game honors in the four games completed. There is no separate NL Batter of the Day for Monday because overall NL Player of the Day is batter Matt Chapman.

Red Sox pitcher Tanner Houck now has 13.4 Box-Toppers points in 2024 after earning Player of the Game honors Monday.

About Box-Toppers

Box-Toppers tracks who most helps their team win the most games. Using standard box score statistics, Box-Toppers uses a simple formula to determine a Player of the Game for each Major League Baseball game played. That player is the person who contributed most to his team’s win. In regular season games, players earn 1.0 Box-Toppers point for being named Player of the Game and can earn bonus points for being Player of the Day or top player or batter in their league for the day.
