Reds pitcher Brady Singer is Box-Toppers Player of the Day in Tuesday’s spring training games.

Other Player of the Game winners Tuesday include Astros pitcher Hunter Brown, Griffin Conine of the Marlins, Wyatt Langford of the Rangers, Gavin Sheets of the Padres and Oneil Cruz of the Pirates.

Player of the Day

Singer struck out seven over four scoreless innings, allowing one hit and one walk, in the 8-5 win over the Rockies. Singer did not earn the win, picking up a no-decision, because the Rockies took the lead after he exited.

Singer had a Box-Toppers game score of +9.0, best among all Reds players and highest among all Tuesday Player of the Game winners.

Singer earned 10.0 Box-Toppers points in 2024 with the Royals, 27th among American League pitchers.

If this were a regular season game, Singer would have earned 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day (1.0 point as Player of the Game and 1.0 bonus point as overall Player of the Day). However, no Box-Toppers points are awarded because it’s a preseason exhibition game.

American League Player of the Day is Astros pitcher Hunter Brown.

American League Player of the Day

Astros pitcher Hunter Brown struck out six over four scoreless innings, allowing two hits and no walks, in the 7-4 win over the Mets. Brown did not earn the win, picking up a no-decision, because when he exited, the game was in a scoreless tie.

Brown earned 12.0 Box-Toppers points in 2024, 15th among AL pitchers and highest-ranking among all Tuesday Player of the Game winners.

If this were a regular season game, Brown would have earned 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being AL Player of the Day (1.0 point as Player of the Game and 0.7 bonus points as AL Player of the Day).

National League Batter of the Day is Griffin Conine of the Marlins.

National League Batter of the Day

Griffin Conine of the Marlins homered and went 3-for-4, scoring twice and driving in four runs, in the 12-5 win over the Cardinals.

Conine played in 30 games in 2024 but did not earn Player of the Game honors in any of them and so has 0.0 career Box-Toppers points. Conine, 27, is the son of Jeff Conine, who played for the franchise for eight seasons in the 1990s and 2000s. The younger Conine’s rookie status is still intact for 2025. (Jeff Conine earned 60.6 Box-Toppers points from 1995 to 2007. His career began in 1990, prior to the advent of Box-Toppers tracking.)

American League Batter of the Day is Wyatt Langford of the Rangers.

American League Batter of the Day

Wyatt Langford of the Rangers homered and went 3-for-3, scoring twice and driving in three runs, in the 13-6 win over the Angels.

Langford earned 4.5 Box-Toppers points in his 2024 rookie season, 31st among AL batters.

Gavin Sheets of the Padres earned Box-Toppers Player of the Game honors Tuesday for the third time during the spring training season.

  • Brown would have earned 1.7 points for being AL Player of the Day.

  • Conine and Langford would have each earned 1.5 points for being their league’s Batter of the Day.

  • All of Tuesday’s other Player of the Game winners (listed in the chart) would have earned 1.0 Box-Toppers point.

About Box-Toppers

Box-Toppers tracks who most helps their team win the most games. Using standard box score statistics, Box-Toppers uses a simple formula to determine a Player of the Game for each Major League Baseball game played. That player is the person who contributed most to his team’s win. In regular season games, players earn 1.0 Box-Toppers point for being named Player of the Game and can earn bonus points for being Player of the Day or top player or batter in their league for the day.

Box-Toppers strives for accuracy. See a mistake in a post? A wrong name, wrong team, grammar error, spelling goof, etc.? Thanks for pointing it out! Contact Box-Toppers here. Let's fix it and make it right.
